ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT & ESSENTIAL IN YOUR COLLECTION! "This band seems to get compared to veterans Deathspell Omega, and it's somewhat justified, but honestly, I see this band as far superior. There are six songs on here, ranging in length of 3 minutes with the bleak, depressing interlude "Sanctuary of Cut Tongues" to the nearly 12-minute mammoth "The Nail in a Heart". Really, with a runtime eclipsing 51 minutes, there is a lot to be heard here. I love the track "Tranquillity of the Possessed", which follows the interlude in a very melodic manner. This song becomes pure devastation shortly after, with some of the evilest riffing on the entire disc. There is also a fairly technical borderline progressive passage in here that scares the shit out of even some of the best classic material from Opeth. This is the perfect blend of black and death metal. Songs like "Spirit of Oppression" and the opening track "The Lord is Blissful in Grief" convey feelings of pure hate and misanthropy, and contrast quite nicely with aforementioned melodic moments also found in the latter part of the closing track "The Nail in a Heart".
